Palette Obsessions: Coloured Raine and Makeup Revolution
I swear I can't stop buying eyeshadow palettes! When I heard that the original Naked palette was being discontinued, I was so tempted to get one since I got rid of mine like a dummy. Well I can now say I DID repurchase it from Macy when they had 15% off going on which I could use on top of the sale price. So score! It still might be going on at the time of this post. Here are some other recent palette purchases. I've used 3 of the 4 palettes already. So I can give some initial first impressions of the palettes. Yay!
The Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts Palette was on sale on their website and I jumped on getting it. Two of my makeup friends have raved about this palette. I've done a few looks with it and so far I am enjoying it. My ONLY gripe is with the matte brown called Duchess. I wish it was a tad deeper but I still enjoy it and it's not like I don't have darker brown shades in my stash. I also wish the wine shade Lady Ship was a tad deeper as well. Again nothing major.
I kind of crapped on Makeup Revolution with some previous palettes I ended up returning. Well this time around I have purchased 3 *head palm*. One of my YouTube favs emilynoel83 has collaborated with Makeup Revolution and we have two palettes! If you have not seen her video on this collaboration, please check out her video. I couldn't be more happy for her. I've played around with The Needs Face & Eye Palette and The Wants palette. I picked up both from Ulta. If I could go back and edit my purchase I probably would have just picked up The Wants palette. I like The Needs palette but I don't see myself reaching for it a ton. The bronzer shade Courage I cannot use on my face. So I've used it an extra eyeshadow. Also a couple of the eyeshadows are really my jam but I'll use them. The Passion shadow is GORGEOUS! The Wants palette is BEAUTIFUL! It's not just a neutrals palette. It has a nice mix of shades. I have the same gripe with The Wants palette that I have with the Queen of Hearts of palette. I wish that the matte brown Apartment was a tab deeper. But the palette has a matte black as well. So I can mix Apartment with that and I'm good. Her palette are available at Ulta and the Makeup Revolution website.
I picked up the Tropical Paradise Palette from the Makeup Revolution website. This is another collaboration palette with MakeupbyTammi. She's a UK YouTuber that I stumbled upon. I've mentioned before I try to support WOC YouTubers when I can and if I like the product. This is a pretty mix of shades. I haven't dipped into it yet but I'm anxious to play around with it.
I'm hoping after this I can really do a no buy *sigh*. But all the holiday stuff is releasing. GAH! I quit this life LOL!!! Stay tuned for my next palette shenanigans.

Palette Obsessions: MAC, Tarte, Juvia's Place
This post is a haul/first impressions of sorts. These are recent purchases. I've done a look or two with them (except for one palette). So far I'm liking them put they haven't reached favorite status yet but I wanted to talk about them. So here they are!
After using the MAC Aaliyah Age Ain't Nothing palette, I've been eyeing other MAC eyeshadow palettes. I picked up two quads from one of the PatrickStarrr's releases. I got both of these on sale. One I got from MAC and the other I got from Macy's. I'm not sure if they are still available. I picked up Glam AF and Goalgetter. Both are super pretty and have some classic MAC shades. Then I picked up the Burgundy Time Nine palette when The Style and Beauty Doctor mentioned it in a post. She said it's a second cousin to the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette but with deeper shades and I totally agree. I like that it has deeper shades. I feel like they work better with my skin tone. I've considered traveling with some of these for my upcoming work trip. We shall see if they make it into my makeup bag.
I went in Ulta to return some skincare. Of course I can't walk in, make a return and walk out of the store. I looked at the Urban Decay On the Run collection that I was set on getting but seeing it in person, I was like meh. Looking at the Tarte items I came across the Love, Trust & Fairy Dust Eye & Cheek Palette. When I saw it, I'm sure my eyes got big. It instantly gave me Urban Decay Naked 3 palette vibes but I like this one better! I've played around with this palette the most and I have really been enjoying it. The packaging is also too cute and I'm typically not a sucker for packaging.
It's safe to say if Juvia's Place comes out with a new palette then I'm getting it! They recently released the Afrique palette and like the rest of their palettes it is gorgeous! I haven't dipped into this one yet oh but I will! It's currently sold out. Check their social media for the restock or you can get emailed when it's back in stock.
And there you have it!
I typically post hauls to my Instagram. So follow me along there if you'd like!

Palette Obsession: Tarte, Mally, Colour Pop, Urban Decay
I've gone overboard again with palette purchases *sigh*
tarte tarteist Pro Palette
This tarte palette has been on my radar for a while. Macy's seems to frequently run some kind of beauty promo. I lucked up got this for 30%, free shipping and 6% cash back via Ebates. So score! This is how you shop for beauty products.
Mally Muted Muse Eyshadow Palette
I exchanged the Does of Color mauve palette for this and I couldn't be happier. This is another good everyday palette. I love the compact size too. I may take this with me on my next work trip. My favorite shade so far is Artistry. Me and these kind of matte browns are BFFs lol!
Shayla x ColourPop Perception Shadow Palette
Makeup Shayla created some buzz on Instagram about her next project. Then the announcement came that she did a collab with ColourPop. I'm not the biggest Shayla fan but I did like what I saw in the collection and I do try and support women of color brand collaborations when I can. So I ordered the set that included the entire collection which isn't a bad price for what you get. You can spent that much on one palette. The shades in the palette are very pretty.
Urban Decay Beached Eyeshadow Palette
This is another Instagram made me do it palette. I saw this but wasn't really checking for it until I saw the swatches. Plus I'm really liking the Urban Decay palettes packaged like this. I was going to wait until it went on sale to scoop this up. But I had an item to return to Ulta which I always end up doing an exchange. The browns and blues in this palette are stunning. This is another palette I would travel with for work.
After this I think a palette no buy is in order. Let's see if it holds since palettes are my makeup product weakness.

Palette Obsession: Tarte, Morphe, MUA, Dose of Colors
Hey. Hey there. How ya doing?
Happy April! I cannot believe it's April. I feel like it was just Christmas like a month ago.
The month is halfway over but I will play around with the tarte Tarlette in Bloom, MUA Nude Eye Shadow, Dose of Colors Marvelous Mauves and the Morphe Jaclyn Hill palettes. The tarte and Dose of Colors palettes are new to me. I've already done a few looks with the Tarlette in Bloom palette and of course I'm digging it. I've also purchased The Festival palette from Juvia's Place. So I may throw it in the mix. These palettes may carry me into May since work travel will be starting up for me again soon *head palm*. I may do a post of the makeup I take with me. Next up will be my March Hit List.
Play time go!

UPDATE: Product Play January 2015
Pause Product Play...
So yeeaaaaaaa....I'm supposed to be playing around with the Kat Von D Innerstellar palette right? I ordered it on December 6. I think I got it a few days later. I've only used it twice. I didn't reach for it when I did my makeup today. I did a look with it yesterday and it was pretty. I keep looking at it and I swatched it again today. I'm just not wowed by it like I have been with my other recent palette purchases. I do like a couple of the shadows but not enough to keep the palette. So like I've mentioned before if I'm lukewarm about a product, I'm not keeping it! So back it goes!
I was watching a December favorites video and the YouTuber mentioned Urban Decay's original Naked palette. I commented on her video saying that it is an instant go to palette for me. I had decided to play around with the Naked 2 and Naked 3 palettes next month, so why not go ahead and play with the first one now :D
Resume Play!!!!

Product Play January 2015
Happy New Year!
So for 2015, I figured why not combine Palette Play and Polish Play into one post.
I have a lot of shadows. I did purge a lot last year but I still have too much for one person. First world problems I know. If you been following me for a while then you know that eyeshadows, especially palettes are my weakness. Last year I used a palette (quad, duo, or whatever) for a week. It was long enough for me to get a taste of something but I felt that I really didn't use the item. If that makes sense. So this year I am going to use a palette for two weeks. So we'll have 2 palettes for the month. I still may use a duo, quad or small palette for a week since they are smaller. I'm determined to hit pan on something this year lol! Also I'm hoping this will help me purge some more shadows from my collection this year.
First up, I will be playing around with the Kat Von D Innerstellar palette. I ordered this from Sephora and I did one look with it when I got it. I did like the look. But I need to play around with some more to see if it's a keeper or if it's going back to Sephora.
Next I will be playing around with the two quads I picked up from MAC's Wonder Woman collection. Here we have Valiant (greens) and Defiance (pinks). I may take out the blush that I picked up from the collection and play around with it too.
Polish Play will still be the same. I'll just grab some polishes and use em. I said that I wasn't going to pull out a TON of polishes. But I ended up getting a lot of polishes last month and I want to play around with them. So these may take me into February. We shall see. Going to try and limit my nail polishes purchases this year and reorganize my storage.
I got the OPI Holiday Favorites set from HSN. I got this for my Secret Santa gift at work and of course I had to get me a set too lol. The set came with a bunch of goodies including five nail polishes. I already have Lincoln Park After Dark. So I'm gifting the bottle that came in the set to a friend.
The OPI set also came with 3 mini polishes. It irks me that OPI doesn't print the names on the bottle. The mini Formula X polish was a 100 point Sephora perk.
These mini Zoya polishes came in their Cyber Monday mystery bag. It was $15 with free shipping. It came with some other goodies and some coupons for future purchases. I was pleased and would purchase a mystery bag from them again.
These next set of polishes I scooped up from Utla on sale. The China Glaze bottles with the silver tops, I got for 97 cents!!!! The China Glaze polish from The Giver collection I got for $3.77 and the OPI polish I got for $4.77. The next time you're in Ulta check out their clearance section. You can scoop some good deals.
Here I'll list any products that I want to use up. Then I'll report back in a future post if I'm successful instead of the long list like I had last year. That long list was king of intimidating and I would forget was on the doggone thing.
I have 3 things that I hope I can get used up by the end of the month.
I think that's it. That's enough stuff right. Jeez!
Let the Product Play commence!

Palette Play December 2014
Ok sooooooo....this was supposed to be Drugstore December. But I picked up a couple of Stila palettes that I was going to wait and play around with next month buuuut I didn't want to wait. So there lol. Here is what I'll be playing around with for the month.
Week of November 30 - Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadows
I got these from a friend a while ago and I have yet to play with them. I could depot them and put them into a Z palette. A nice mix of shades for a palette.
Week of December 7 - Stila In the Light Palette
I got this for $20 from Sephora online. I've heard that the "In the..." palettes are being discontinued. So check Ulta and Sephora online if you are interested in these palettes. This reminds me so much of the original Naked palette and y'all know that is my favorite palette. I've heard good reviews on this palette.
Week of December 14 - Stila In the Moment Palette
I got this from Ulta online. I kept going back and forth on it. But come on it's a purple and neutrals together! It's my palette happy place. The reviews on this palette are good as well.
Week of December 21 - Wet n Wild Sparkle 'Til Morning
This a short work week so we'll see how much use this gets. I have had it for a while and have yet to play with it *hangs head in shame* The makeup hoarder struggle.
Week of December 28 - elf Baked Shadows
I'll be hanging around at home for the most part this week. So we'll see if these get any use at all. These are good for a quick one eye shadow look which is all I'll probably be up to doing. The four shadows I have are Burnt Plum, Chocolate Dream, Bark and Passion Purple.
And Palette Play is done for 2014!!
Thanks for riding this out with me. I think I did a job good with utilizing my various palettes, quads, single shadows, etc. this year. I'm going to do something similar for 2015 but slightly different. So stay tuned...
Week of November 30 - Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadows
First column: Bella Emerald, Bella Black
Second column: Bella Purple, Bella Teal, Bella Espresso
Third column: Bella Bronze, Bella Champagne, Bella Gold

Palette Play November 2014
I went back and forth on whether not to combine November and December. With the holidays almost upon us (I can't believe it!) and my makeup play days being "limited", I had thought it would make sense to combine the two months. But then I was like nah lol! Plus I have some other things I want to play around with before December since I will be doing drugstore December again. Ok enough rambling. Here is what I will be playing around with for November!
Week of November 2 - Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamanna Palette
I finally broke down and got the Tamanna palette after using the Maya Mia palette and really enjoying it. Aren't the shades pretty? I already did a look with it when I got it home.
Week of Week of November 9 - Bobbi Brown Bronze Tortoiseshell Palette
I've had this for a while and have rarely used it. It randomly popped in my head when thinking about what I wanted to use this month. A pretty neutral palette. May try to use some Maybelline Color Tattoos with it.
Week of Week of November 16 - Urban Decay Smoked Palette
I went back and looked to see if I had used this already for the year. I had said in July that I was going to take it for with me for my work trip to St. Louis. I honestly don't remember if I took it with me or if I even used it during that week. Oye vey!!! But I'm going to use it now lol! This was dubbed my favorite palette for 2013. So why not give it some love right? It's currently on sale for $29 at Ulta,
Week of Week of November 23 - Maybelline The Nudes Palette
To get the party started for Drugstore December, I'm going to be use the Maybelline The Nudes palette. I got this over the summer and have yet to use it.
Let's go!
**Ok so AFTER I posted this I saw that I didn't take the Smoked palette with me to St. Louis. I ended up taking the Laura Mercier Artist palette! Phew. LOL! Ok on with the Palette Play!

Palette Play October 2014
This month I am using one palette for the whole month. I know you're thinking one palette? Well once you see it you'll know why.
I'm going to play around with the smashbox Photo Op Mega Palette!
This thing is not the easier to take pictures of. Jeez!
This was one of the first palette that initiated my palette play posts. When I broke it out around the holidays, I really didn't use it. So this bad boy gets a WHOLE month! Let's see how this goes and if I get tempted to play around with some other stuff *shifty eyes*. I hoping playing around with this will help fight the urge of several palettes along with single shadows from Makeup Geek that have caught my eye. *fingers crossed*. This was limited edition but smashbox releases similar versions of this palette with eyeshadows, blushes, etc.

Palette Play September 2014
I'm sticking with one brand again for this month's palette play. This month I'm playing around with Tarte! Two of the palettes are new to my stash. Woot!
These two palettes are the Exotic Eyes (new) and Ten palettes. I got Exotic Eyes from Tarte's site. It originally launched on QVC but I had missed out on getting it there. I've had the Ten palette for a good while now. Can't remember where I got it from.
These two palettes are from a QVC auto delivery and they don't have fun palette names. They are both called the tarte Amazonian Clay 16-Pc Eyeshadow Palette. The one on the left should look familiar. This was one of the palettes that started off palette play back in December. The one of the right is new. Both palettes are available for purchase on QVC. I've see the on the right on Sephora's site.
I have no idea in what order I'm going to use these. Labor Day weekend is kind of throwing me off. I'm also going to play around with the four smolderEyes pencils that came with the two larger palettes (Golden Black, Brown, Fig and Gunmetal).
See you again in October!

Palette Play August 2014
I still can't believe I had that big of a brain fart on what palettes to play around with last month!
We won't have this problem again going forward! I think I have mapped out what I want to play around with between now and the end of the year. We'll see if my thought process holds....HA!
For August I want to revisit my Mally palettes! I've played around with these before but wanted to revisit them again. No harm in that. Let's take a look at them!
Here we have In the Buff Vol. 2, I Love Color, Celebration and Loving Life. I'm going to use them in the order I got them. Some of these are still available for purchase on QVC's website if you're interested.
Aren't they all pretty?!!? I still want to get her original In the Buff palette. I'll more than likely scoop that by the end of the year. Let the fun begin!

Palette Play July 2014
(Courtesy of Microsoft)
In thinking about what I wanted to play around with this month, I drew a blank. I opened up my various drawers that house my palettes and was like ummmm *scratches head* So then I was like, well play around with the new stuff that you've gotten. But then I wasn't feeling what I said was going to use. Then I was like what the hell dude! See this in a clear indication that you gots too much crap! Jeez! So I was still drawing a blank at the time I was trying to get this post up. So I went back to the drawing board. I went back and looked at past posts and then started digging in my cart yet again....
I got NOTHING! Oye vey! So we're going rogue this month! When I do my favorites post for the month, I'll tell you what I ended up using and what I ended up taking on my work trip. I have some shorter weekend trips and I already know I'm taking Urban Decay's Smoked palette along with some Mally shadow sticks. That's all I know *blink blink*

Palette Play June 2014
I had nice little blurb all typed up. Said I was going to play around with some palettes that I was undecided on if I wanted to keep them or not. Then I was like scratch that. I ended up keeping one and put the other two in my giveaway pile. So that's that.
I ordered the Bobbi Brown TSV and the end of April. I didn't get my hands on it until I came back from my work trip. So why not play around with some Bobbi Brown palettes this month! I love me some Bobbi Brown! She's my play auntie in my head LOL! I got stick with Bobbi Brown and Bare Minerals for my pretty needs and be happy.
Here are the palettes I will be playing around with for the month!
Week of June 1 - Nude Basics Palette
This palette was in the Nude Basics Collection April TSV. I've played around with it a couple of times already and I do really like. The set is still available on QVC's website. If you want nude and you want it done right, you go to Bobbi Brown.
Week of June 8 - My Bobbi Brown Single Shadows
These two palettes have my Bobbi Brown single shadows. She has empty palettes available for purchase and her eyeshadows and blushes snap right in. In the quad the shades are Cocoa, Black Plum, Black Velvet and Black Cocoa. The three shadows palette has Soft Peach, Gold and Eggplant.
Week of June 15 - Downtown Beauty Palette
Another TSV palette which some nice everyday shades.
Week of June 22 - Smokey Eye Palette
If you're someone who is intimated by doing a silver/gray/black smokey eye then check this palette out. You can achieve a smokey eye with ease using this palette. You can go light or as dark as you want but not look crazy. Bobbi Brown always says with her shadows it's all about layering.
Week of June 29 - Peony & Python Palette
A fun palette with purples and grays.
I also have a blush palette that I put together. The blushes are Plum, Apricot, Washed Rose and Desert Pink (my all time favorite pink blush which is slightly washed out in the pic grrrr). I have travel with this palette and it was great to have options in something compact.
Let the fun begin!

Palette Play May 2014
This month I'll be playing around with Bare Minerals loose eyeshadow sets. Woohoo!!! I don't show the loose Bare Minerals shadows a lot of love. I love that these are already packaged together. I need to come up with a different organization/storage for my other loose eyeshadows. Sorry that the pics are the best. Remember Google is your friend :)
Week of May 4 - Degrees of Dazzling
This was the 20 piece eyeshadow set from their holiday collection last year. I scored it on sale. If you're eyeing Bare Minerals items from their holiday collections, I say WAIT! Christmas Eve I went to Ulta and stuff was already on sale. I think in February, a lot of holiday items turned up on the Bare Minerals website on sale. And a lot of the products stayed on their site for a good while. Sometimes items also turn up during their 12 Beauty Rush sales.
Week of May 11 - A Vision in Velvet
This was their 20 piece eyeshadow set from 2012 holiday collection. I also got it on sale. My friend scooped it for me Black Friday. I want to say she got it from Macy's. This set is half matte shadows and half satin shadows. Very very pretty!
Week of May 18 - The Women of B.E. Collection
This was 20 piece eyeshadow set that they created for their QVC customers. Each shadow shade is a woman's name. This was my first large loose eyeshadow set. I like the packaging of this one. I wish the other two sets I have were packaged similar to this.
Week of May 25 - Good Morning, Gorgeous
I can't remember when I got this set but I've barely used it. Each shade is name of a day of the week. How cute right?

Platte Play April 2014
I had already mentioned in last month's post that April is Urban Decay Month!! You already know that Urban Decay makes some of my favorite eyeshadows and palettes. I also have a work trip coming up at the end of the month and I noticed that I like traveling with Urban Decay palettes. So here's what I'll be play around with this month!
Week of April 6 - Mariposa Palette
I got this palette during a work trip last year in Portland at Nordstrom's Rack. Annnd I haven't used it yet *hangs head in the shame*. So let's give this one a whirl.
Week of April 13 - The Black Palette
Yes this a dark palette and we are in "springtime" but I wear whatever whenever. I wore the dark blue shade on my eye for me birthday I think in 2012 and my birthday is in July.
Week of April 20 - Show Pony Box
I haven't used this palette in a good while. It has a good mix of neutrals and colors. It's a good one for travel.
Week of April 27 - Naked Palette
This shouldn't be a surprise lol. I wanted something easy for this week since I'll be on travel and have early/long days. So I wanted something that is easy and didn't have to think about. I will also be taking some Tarte Shadow Sticks with me in the shades Taupe, Satin Golden Brown, Moss Green, Mocha Berry and Shimmering Sand. These shadow sticks compliment the Naked palette and they are super long wearing! I have the Naked palette that has the double-ended eye pencil in Zero and Whiskey. I still plan on taking Perversion and Demolition liners from Urban Decay.
March Palette Play Recap
Just a quick tidbit on March's Palette Play. I already mentioned my disdain for the elf eyeshadow duos that I played around with in my March Favorites. They were not the business and I'm not saying that just because it's elf. I only played around with 3 L'Oreal Hip duos Charming, Saucy and Poppy (pictured above). Charming is pretty put there was major fall out with this one. I haven't played around with a lot of the shimmery ones so I was surprised but the fall out. Saucy is hands down my favorite L'Oreal Hip Duo. It reminds me on the Nars duo in Cordura. The Nars duo is $35 and the L'Oreal Hip duos vary depending on where you get them from but around $8. CVS usually have some on sale when they do their big beauty sales. Poppy is all matte and it was my first time used an all matte L'Oreal Hip Duo. I REALLY liked this one. It created a very pretty neutral matte look It's perfect for daytime or really anytime. The lighter shade in the duo is more orange/peachy than what's pictured above. I didn't really show any Bare Minerals Ready duos any love because I played around with some newer items I picked up the last week of the month.
As always you can find better pictures of the shadows and swatches online. Google is your friend :)
Now let the the Urban Decay play commence!!! Woot!

Palette Play March 2014
I didn't do a recap of February in this post since I talked about all the palettes except one in my February Favorites. So you can check out my thoughts there. The eye section is the first part of the post. So you don't have to read the whole thing. It's a long one The palette I didn't mention was the Sonia Kashuk palette but I really don't have much to say about it. I only used it twice. I'm still meh about the palette. I think it's going to go in my giveaway pile.
This month I'm playing with eyeshadows duos. I love palettes but most of the time, I use a couple of shadows and go. If I'm really in the mood to do it "big" I'll use three lol. So duos are my happy place. I'll be playing with duos from elf, L'Oreal and Bare Minerals. The elf duos were from two holiday sets that I scored from Walgreens after Christmas for $2.50 each and the sets came with their eyeshadow brush. I'm tickled by these two sets because I think that the day set is more suitable for evening and the evening set is more suitable for daytime lol! Don' you think so?
Week of March 2 - elf 9 piece day eyeshadow set
Week of March 9 - elf 9 piece evening eyeshadow set
Week of March 16 - L'Oreal Hip Duos
As you can see I have a lot of these. I think I'll just grab whatever moves me that morning. So I'm not going to list anything now. But I'll definitely let you know which ones I reached for in next month's post.
Week of March 23 - Bare Minerals 2.0 Ready Shadows
I also have a lot of these. I'm going to do the same with these like the L'Oreal Hip Duos and grab whatever moves me when I get ready in the morning.
Since there are 5 weeks in March and it carries over into April, I'm going to add *pauses* Naked 3 palette into the mix. I had already decided that April was going to be Urban Decay month. This will be a good lead in for April :D I purchased the palette at the end of February. I've used it a few times and I love it. I'm glad I got it to try it out for myself. Reviews and such are good but sometimes you just have to get a product home and play with it. Let me stop here. I'll talk about it some more next month. So stay tuned...
