Reconsidered 2012 Favorites

Looking back over my favorites posts I noticed that some items that I listed are really not favorites anymore or I still like BUT I'm not as hype over them as I was when I did the post. For January, February and March I wasn't using my own pics and got freaked out from using ones from the Internet. I took them down and was going to post my own if I still had the product. Hadn't gotten around to it yet. I actually started this post in January but then kind of forgot about it. Whoops! So here they are.

From January
Only one item stuck out from January and it's the Revlon Photo Ready Volume 3D Mascara. At first I loved it and thought it was really good. The more I used it I was like oh no. It flaked something terrible on me. I would look in the mirror and go ekkkkk! So I pitched it and would not repurchase.

A possible try again item is the Ruby Kisses Eyeshadow Primer. I remembered really liking it. Thing is it's hard to find. I know most people find Ruby Kisses items in no name beauty supply stores. I had ordered it online from a beauty supply store. If I see it while I'm out and about I would scoop it up. But I'm not going to order it online just because.

From February
Another mascara that I loved at first was Benefit's They're Real Mascara. The thing that turned me off was that I noticed my lashes coming off when I would remove it. Just a lash or two but it was like that each time I would remove it in the evening. So that kind of freaked me out. I read some reviews on Sephora and others had experienced the same. So I pitched it. Also I'm over mascaras that make my lashes feel hard and this one did. A bunch of people love this mascara but it just isn't for me.

From March
Still loving everything from March :D

From April
All good for April! :D

From May
I'm kind of over Lancome's Hypnose Drama mascara. The brush is different. Not in a bad way but you have to work with it a little more. I think it's good for night time but not really as an everyday mascara. I prefer Lancome's Definicils Precious Cells over Hypnose Drama.

From June
Two more mascaras to mention! The Rimmel Sexy Curve Mascara was just ok. Like I said it the post it only gave me length. Wasn't a big fan. L'Oreal's Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black *sigh* I wanted to like this. It's a cult favorite. For me it seemed too much. To me it was kind of goopy and didn't separate my lashes well. If I were going to try the Voluminous Mascaras again I'd stick with the original.

From July
Nothing from July :D

From August
In August I mentioned that I had been loving Cetaphil's moisturizer  I did like it at the time. The more I used it I realized it wasn't a good fit for my skin but I continued to use just so I could use it up. Then I kind of got feed up and was like nope. So I used it as a hand and body lotion.  Bare Minerals moisturizer for combination skin is a better fit for my skin.

From September
Oh boy another doggone mascara! I picked up the L'Oreal Voluminous Full Definition. It was ok at first. I like it for a short period of time and them I hated it. It's funny L'Oreal used to be my favorite brand for mascaras from the drugstore. Now I'm kind of over them.

From October
Phone case from eBay. The day after I did my favorites post, the design on that joker started peeling! So I took it off. No more hard cases for me! Hmph!

From November
Still loving everything from November :D

From December
Everything from December is still good :D

And there you have my 2012 favorites re-review. It's funny how you love something one minute and over it the next.

December 2012 Favorites

My last favorites post for 2012 wooohoooo!!! I'm proud of myself for sticking with it for each month. And thanks to those who have read and commented!

What I did this month was trrrry to use only drugstore makeup. Keyword being try. I did ok earlier in the month. Heard about challenge on YouTube from prettydaysies. For me this was mainly eyeshadows, blushes, lip products and nail polishes. I haven't been able to find a foundation, concealer, bronzer and powder that works for me from the drugstore. I'm hoping that one day drugstore brands get with he program and offer more shades. I only have a few eyeliners from the drugstore as well. I love the items that I do have from the drugstore and get on kicks every now and then but I reach more for my mid-range/high end items more. Oh well on to the favorites!

Eyes

I finally picked up the Laura Mericer Artist for Eyes palette. This was the last palette on my wish list for the year. I wanted from the moment I saw it an email I got from Sephora. Then I went back on forth on getting it based on some of the reviews I saw. But I'm glad I stuck with my original instincts and got it.  I saw crystalis007's review on the palette and it sealed the deal for me. Some stuff you just have to try out for yourself and make your own decision. I love this palette. It has half matte and shimmer shadows. When I first got in I was stuck of the mattes. Cafe Au Lait and Coffe Ground are perfect for my skin tone if I want a barely there eyeshadow look. I also love the dark navy shade Deep Night. I got the palette in store at Sephora. I looked and it's not available online anymore So if you still want check your Sephora store.

I picked up Bare Minerals Shades of Decadence set from QVC. It contains 9 eye shadows. I've already mentioned my love for their loose eyeshadows. There are a good selections of shades in this set. Two shadows I have been loving out of this set are Atomic Plume (smoked clove) and Cypress (glided evergreen).

I played around with the Maybelline Stylish Smokes quads that I have earlier in the month. I've mentioned them before. Very pigmented and go one smoothly. My favorite is the Natural Smoke quad.

I know I mentioned shadow sticks last month but here they go again :). I picked tarte's 5 pieced Holiday Amazonian Clay Shadow Sticks Collection from QVC last month. tarte is my favorite when it comes to eyeshadow sticks so I jumped at getting this set. I love all the colors. They go on smooth and last all day on me with or without a primer. I loved this set so much that I was mad at people giving it low rating claiming that these are full of glitter (which there are not). I wrote a review on them which I rarely do.

Lancome was on HSN for which I think were their last visit of the year. The had a special of the day perfume set but I already had the perfume lol. They have free shipping going on on all items until the end of the year. So I picked up the new Hypnose Star mascara. I'm trying to pair down my mascaras. I have a lot of favorites that I'm kind of over. I've tried two other Lancome mascaras and I like them so I said why not to this one. Make this number 3. I love everything about this. I love the formula, the brush and how my lashes look. I'm not claiming this as holy grail status just yet but we shall see.

Lips

I have talked about the Revlon Lip Butters before. So I will be brief lol. The color that I have been loving this month and is my #1 fav is Red Velvet. I typically don't buy back ups in a product but I would for this product. And it is hard to find in stores. Usually when I troll the Revlon section in stores I don't see this one too often. It's an amazing deep red color and the pigmentation is insane for it not to be a true lipstick. Also I have been reaching for Fig Jam as well. It's a great everyday color that goes with just about everything.

The Shades of Decadence Collection I mentioned above also came with 6 lip glosses. There are 3 of their 100 natural glosses and 3 of their Moxie glosses. I am LOVING the 100% natural gloss in Wearable Mauve (glazed rose). I need for them to make this available in full size. Like seriously! I even tweeted them telling them so. That's how much I love this gloss.

CVS had another one of their sales around the middle of the month. The Revlon Colorburst lipsticks were part of the sale. Lord knows I didn't need anymore lipsticks and I did pick up some for Christmas gifts. So of course I had to get a couple for myself right? *shifty eyes*. I got Rosy Nude and True Red. Both are gorgeous on. Rosy Nude is a brown girl friendly nude for me and True Red is just that. I've said it before that Revlon is #1 for me when it comes to lipsticks.

I am a fuchsia lipstick lover. And I think I've picked up 3 recently in the last month or so. Sad I know but *shrugs*. Two that I have been in my reach are Revlon SuperLustrous lipstick in Fuchsia Fusion and CoverGirl's Spellbound lipstick.

There were some days that I went makeup free but of course I threw on a lipgloss. One that I reached for a wore for about 4 days straight was Bare Minerals 100% Nautral lipgloss in Apple Butter. And it really does look like the color of apple butter. It's a great throw on a go gloss.

Face

I had some face brushes that I wanted to mention last month but forgot. One is the Simga F05 small contour brush. I have 2 of these, so this gives you an indication on how much I love this brush. But last month into December instead of using it as a contour brush (what I typically use it for), I used it as a blush brush. It's great for putting blush on the apples of your cheek and blending it out. Another brush I loved is the Bare Minerals angled buki brush. This was in their mini brush set for the holidays last year. This brush is AMAZING for applying Bare Minerals foundation. If it was available for purchase on it's own I would buy another one. That's how amazing I think this brush is.

I've had Peter Thomas Roth's Ultra-Lite Oil Free Sunblock SPF 30 for a while and have used it daily. I was however never really wowed by the product and had be looking at trying other SPF products for my face. I had been playing around with small bottle of Mary Kay's Day Solution which is an SPF product. You would apply after you washed your face but before you applied your moisturizer. I liked it and was debating on getting in a full sized bottle.  But then I was like hmmmmm...maybe I should apply Peter Thomas Roth's Sunblock the same way. So I did and now I LOVE it! I also love that it has other ingredients in that are good for the skin. So I will not be switching to another SPF product for my face. I picked mine up from Sephora.

Another skincare product that I have been loving this month and I have dubbed my holy grail daytime moisturizer is Bare Minerals Purely Nourishing Moisturizer for combination skin. This stuff is amazing. I love how it sinks right into the skin and it's lightweight.

Another product I've talked about before are the Wet n' Wild Color Icon blushes. I have all 4 and picked the final one in Berry Shimmer earlier this year I believe. Inexpensive, very pigmented and blend nicely on to the cheek.

I purchased Bare Minerals November Today's Special Value. Included was a brand new Mineral Veil called Perfect Light. It's supposed to adjust to whatever lighting your in and I have been loving it since I received it. It's kind of peachy in color.

Nails

I went to CVS to get some toothpaste and mouthwash, but of course I trolled through the beauty products. This one CVS I go to has OPI polishes. One caught my eye and it happened to be Warm & Fozzie from The Muppets collection. I was like score! I didn't get anything from that collection but this was one I was interested in when the collection was released. I guess it a brown pink shimmery collection. Gorg on and I got tons of compliments on it.

I picked up Good Tidings We Bling glitter polish from Sephora when I got the Laura Mercier palette.  I wanted this polish last year and never got it once it sold out online. I had no idea that they brought it back again for the holidays. It's a pretty red and green glitter polish with fine and chucks of glitter, perfect for your Christmas inspired nail looks.

I picked up Sinful Colors polish in Sugar Sugar last year from Walgreens. It's the perfect red nail polish for the holidays. It does have some glitter in it as well but it's not that noticeable.

This and That

Once the weather gets colors I throw on a scarf every now and then. But I have really been into scarves lately, especially infinity scarves. I picked up one from The Limited (side bar: I forgot The Limited had cute stuff and inexpensive!). It's a "pretty" scarf and not really one for warmth since the material is light. I have 3 infinity scarves that are cute but will keep your warm that I got from Rachael Zoe's QVC line. I like infinity scarves because I'm not the best at tying my scarves all fancy. Just loop these around your neck and go.

I ordered Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You CD from HSN. They had a bonus CD with some duet songs on it. I have had this in the car and have been straight JAMMING OK!! Ugh still can't believe she's gone. She SANG you hear me! And if "I Look to You" wasn't her testimony. She truly was "The Voice" and there will never be another Whitney.

I purchased these Amrita Singh bracelet sets from a Hautelook sale. Simple, easy and you can rock them with any outfit. I think they were called the Beyonce set. Teehee.

And there you have it! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!! See you in January :)

November 2012 Favorites

Ok no babbling this month. Let's get straight to it.

Eyes

Even though I love eyeshadow palettes, every now and then I get on one eyeshadow kicks. I have a three of Milani's Runway Eyes baked eyeshadows. I have Shamrock, Blue Lagoon and Coffee Shop. I've been using them with darker eyeliners (another fav for the month) as a base and taking CoverGirl's Brown Smolder eyeshadow and using in the crease and just above my crease. Quick and easy smokey type looks for the month. Similar to what I did with two Urban Decay palettes and two of their eyeliners (Perversion and Demolition) over the summer (July favorites post).

I have several of Mally's eyeliners. I have been using them as based for my one eyeshadow looks and lining my lower lash line. So if I wore Blue Lagoon, I used Onyx (black) or Sailor (navy) as a base for the eyeshadow. Then I would take Sailor  and line my lower lash line. I did this also with Deep Olive (green) and Espresso (chocolate).

I went through my stash and pulled out a bunch of cream eyeshadow products. There were quite a few from different brands such as Milani, Bobbi Brown and Tarte. I liked them all. So overall cream eyeshadows were a favorite for the month. They are so easy to apply. Just throw on and go. If I wanted a little more definition to the look I used my go to Covergirl's Brown Smolder eyeshadow.

Lips

Another nude lip combo I stumbled upon this month is Mally's Look lip gloss and Revlon's Mink lipstick. When I was digging in my lip gloss drawer I thought I had grabbed her gloss in Nude Light lol! Very brown girl friendly lip. Well at least for me.

You know every now and then you have to go old school. When the cold weather hits and the air gets dry, my lips can get very dry and cracked. Especially in the corners of my mouth. Now I bought into the "hype" products such as the EOS lip balms, Maybelline Baby Lips, Fresh Sugar Lip balms and maybe some others. Some I like, others were ok and one I did not like at all! I went back to using Carmex. I've used the twisty tube and the squeezy tube. I prefer the squeezy tube which is the Moisturizing Lip Balm. I will not buy into the hype again lol. This works for me and my lips are happy. I also like it when I'm wearing a lipstick and as the color fades towards the end of the day, instead of reapplying the lipstick I'll use the Carmex and it adds a nice shine to my lips.

I pulled out the various lip glosses I have from Kissable Couture. I forgot how much I really like these glosses. They feel good on the lips and have very nice pigmentation for a lip gloss. First Lady is one of my favorites, it's a nice nude gloss that doesn't wash you out. The downside to these is that they are kind of pricey, especially once you add on shipping. They have promos and such every now and then so  that helps.

Face

I picked up Small Vanity blush from MAC's Glamour Daze collection. It doesn't look like much in the pan. When I went to the Glamour Daze event at the MAC store in my area, I asked the makeup artist which of the 3 blushes would work for my skin tone. When she said Small Vanity I was like huh? I swatched it on my hand and was like oooooh. It's described as a dusty rose tan. When I thought about it dusty pinks are my favorite kind of pink blushes. A Bobbi Brown blush I have is a dusty rose color and it's one of my favorites.

Musing of a Muse did review on the L'Oreal blushes from the Project Runway collection. One of the blushes she reviewed was The Temptress' Blush. She described it as a plum wine color. When I saw her review I was like hmmmm. So I picked it up when I wen to Ulta. I love that the color is buildable. Pigmented is nice but sometimes if something is toooooo pigmented, it can be hard to work with. At least for me. And I like the option of putting a hint of color on or really going to town and building it up. Also it has some shimmer in it but it applies nicely and gives your cheeks a subtle glow.

I was in Ulta and I usually mosey over to the drugstore side and look at the displays. I saw one by Essence for Breaking Dawn Part 2. Now I'll admit I didn't get into the whole Twilight thing (side bar: I have been looking into the books and the movies so I may give a go now since everything is out and I don't have to wait). Two items in the display caught my attention. One of the was the blush called Renesmee Red. This is a beautiful matte red blush and it was less than $5. I want to say it was $2.99 and I have been wearing it like crazy!

I don't think I've mentioned the Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub before. This was a random CVS purchase. I was in the skin care aisle looking at various scrubs and this one caught my eye. I use it in the morning in the shower and I love it. I like using a light scrub in the morning to help smooth out my skin before applying my makeup. This does the trick. My skin is smooth and soft after using this. It also has salicylic acid which my acne prone skin appreciates. I just repurchased my second tube from Ulta.

Nails

Crystalis007 has gotten me in trouble again. She did a post on Deborah Lippman's Don't Tell Mama nail polish. I love deep dark colors. The is a deep dark green. It almost looks black depending on the light.

I picked up China Glaze's Winter Holly at Sally's. I don't have a deep green glitter polish. It's nice and I paired it with Don't Tell Mama.

Looking throw my nail polishes I pulled out Zoya's Ibiza. I forgot about it and how much I love it. It's described as a blacked indigo blue brightened with subtle metallic blue shimmer.

A nail combo that I love and got tons of compliments on was Maybelline Color Show's Auburn Blaze and Sephora by OPI's Traffic Stopper Cooper

This and That

A Shea Moisture product I have been loving is the Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque. One thing I like about their products is that they have multiple uses. The "main" use for it is deep conditioning  But it can also be used a moisturizing styling cream.  I have been using it a night when I tie my hair up. I watched a moisturize and seal tutorial from Kissseventyseven. I really didn't know what it meant to moisturize and seal. After watching the video I was like ooooh lol. So I have been using this as the moisturize component.

Wen's Tea Tree oil is bomb.com. I use this is a variety of ways. I use it as the seal component after I moisturize my hair. I used it directly on my scalp. I will either pull my hair back in a ponytail and wear it in my hair all day then wash it out later evening. Or I will sleep with it and then wash my hair in the morning. Tea Tree oil is awesome if you have scalp issues. My scalp tends to dry and can get flaky. I have not had this problem since using this oil.  I want to say it had helped with my hair growth which I've had as well. I typically don't hoard hair products but this is one I would definitely hoard.

Another "old school" item I picked up and have been loving this month is Vaseline. I got the kind with Cocoa Butter in it. Now I have used Palmer's Cocoa Butter for years on the more drier areas on my body. When I ran out I was going to get a larger jar that I saw at Sally's. But during a CVS run I was like let me try this Vaseline. Well at first I wanted to price it and it was cheaper than the Palmer's. I have really been liking it. It absorbs in the to skin well and makes the areas I use it on very soft. So I think Palmer's has been replaced!

A couple of fragrances that got a lot of love this month are Michael Kors Very Hollywood and Victoria Secret's Heavenly from the Dream Angels line. Very Hollywood reminds me of Velvet Tuberose from Bath and Body Works, What I started late this month is using a fragrance for the whole week. I'm going to try and stick with this and hopefully get some used up.

(Courtesy of Jessica London)

Since we are in boot season I had to mention the Kayleigh wide-calf side-buckle boot from Jessica London. I love these boots. I have them in 3 colors (cognac, black and brown). I  have been wearing the brown color nonstop this month. It's an easy boot to dress up or down and it is ridiculously comfortable. I wish they had a grey color :D The biggest pain I've had when purchasing knee boots is finding a pair that will be fit over my large calves. There's a nice selection of wide calf boots on Jessica London's website.

And there you have it. I didn't link everything. For the most part I tried to mention where I got an item from. Also Google is your friend ;)

On to December and my last favorites post for 2012!

4 More Years!!!!

(Courtesy of Microsoft)

Well America has spoken and Barack Obama is STILL OUR President!!! \O/ Emphasis on the word OUR!!! I was on pins and needles yesterday. My adrenaline was on like 5,000 too. I feel like we all need a day to recuperate LOL!! My state doesn't have early voting. So I stood in line for an hour and half to cast my vote on Election Day. I would do it all over again! For those of you who made your voice heard (even if you didn't vote for President Obama) job well done! This election was a clear indication that your vote DOES count. And don't let anyone tell you differently!! Too many people fought and died for you to have this right. Don't ever, EVER take it for granted.

I will say this though....yes it is “over and done” but really not so much. Stay engaged and involved. Don't become complacent. Yes national issues are important BUT there are issues going on at the state and local levels that are just as important. If not more so because they directly impact the communities in which you reside in. Also hold these elected officials accountable! Your votes put them there. Their job security is dependent on YOU! Ok I’m done ☺ *walks away whistling Hail to the Chief*

October 2012 Favorites

I kinda fell off shopping my stash. Since I upgraded from my green basket to the beauty bag I talked about recently, I haven't been switching out my products on a regular basis. One YouTuber (ShadesofKassie) that I recently subscribed to, does a video on her weekly basket and it kind of gotten me back in to the swing of things. So my new "game plan" is to switch out eyeshadows and blushes every other week and lip products every week.

Also I'm contemplating an eyeshadow palette no buy (the larger palettes). I LOVE palettes and had been looking at a few for various upcoming sales and holiday shopping. Then I was thinking to myself that once again a lot of the colors look the same. Also I'm pretty sure I already have similar colors in my stash already. I have a decent amount of palettes right now and eyeshadows in general. The only ones that I know that I really want is the Urban Decay Smoked palette and maybe Laura Mercier's new one. I'm also toying around with the idea of  a nail polish no buy. So stay tuned...

Ok enough babbling and let's get into the favorites!! Some of these items I could have included for September but oh well.  Here they go.

Eyes

I played around with two ready eyeshadow quads this month. The Ready eyeshadow quad The Truth has been raved about. I picked it up since I love the Ready eyeshadows and I love neutrals. I've used it and I liked it but I wasn't wowed by it like everyone else. Well I guess something finally clicked for me this month and well I love it lol! Usually when I wore it, I was wearing "traditionally" with light colors on the lid and deeper colors in the crease. Nothing wrong with that. This go around I wore the two brown shades on the lid and crease. I was like we likey a lot. The other ready quad I used was The Happy Place. This quad has some gorgeous colors and some I would never think on wearing together but they work. These are some of my favorite eyeshadows. They go on smoothly, easy to blend and have great lasting power. So I can probably myself sticking with these and leaving the larger palettes alone like I mentioned at the beginning of this post.

So I've been on the hunt for "the" mascara for my lashes. Dare I say I think I've found my HOLY GRAIL mascara *insert shocked face*. I pulled out Bare Minerals Flawless Definition this month and I have been LOVING IT!! It does it all for my lashes. It lengthens, separates and gives me volume. I love the "brush". It's fine-toothed comb brush and not your traditional mascara brush. I can build my lashes to my hearts content, get hard to reach lashes and the wand itself is not big. I'm  kind of over large mascara wands. I'm going to play around with the remaining mascaras I have but I will definitely, definitely keep this on on hand!

Shopping my stash for eyeshadows to play around with I came across the L'Oreal Hip Duos. I have a bunch of these and I love them. I don't do really elaborate eye looks. 2 to 3 shades at most. So these duos are perfect. One the duos I fell in love with last year was #908 Mischief. I watched one of makeupbytiffanyd's tutorials on a blue smokey eye and wanted to recreate it. I looked at this duo and it was perfect to use for the look. I wore this look at a lot last fall/winter and pulled the duo out around the middle of the month and have been wearing it pretty often. Two my other favorite Hip Duo are #106 Sculpted (neutral)  #818 Saucy (pink/purple).

The eyeliner I used with the Mischief L'Oreal Hip Duo to create the blue smokey eye was Mally's automatic eyeliner in Black Navy. I love her colored eyeliners. I also have her liner in Sailor which is a navy blue shade and it probably would work as well with the look. It's not a harsh as black but still nice and gives definition to the upper lash line.

A quick mention of Lancome's Hypnose Drama mascara. I've mentioned it before but I wanted to mention it again. This is one mascara that will definitely stay in my stash.

Lips

Was going through my lipsticks and came across Mary Kay's Bronzed lipstick and decided to play around with it. It's a great everyday lipstick for me. I can't explain the color. It's not red or brown. I guess a mix of the two but it doesn't look red on my lips. It has a satin finish. So you can thrown it and and not worry about a gloss and it feels nice on the lips.

Been playing around with another nude lip combo this month. Wet n' Wild's 902C Bare it All and Smashbox's lip gloss in Flirt go well together for my skin tone.

I picked up MAC's Yung Rapxuel that was released last month. It's a deep purple lipstick. When I got it and swatched on the back of my hand I like it and all but something was nagging me. When I got home that evening I pulled out Revlon's Va Va Violet. I swatched the two against each other on my hand. I even put one on each lip and shoooooo nuff they are the same! On my lips I couldn't really tell the difference between the two. Needless to say I was kind of pissed that I spend $15 on a lipstick that I pretty much already had. I could have returned it but I didn't. I do really like it and wore it a lot this month. It wears really well throughout the day. So I will be wearing the heck of this one and keep Va Va Violet on injured reserve for now lol. So if you missed out on or plan on getting Yung Rapxuel don't sweat it. Go get Va Va Violet and save yourself a few dollars.

I picked up two more red lipsticks from Revlon *head palm*.  I got Certainly Red (true red) and Cherries in the Snow (fuchsia red). Both are gorgeous. If you're a red lover check them out. They probably dupes to some of the MAC red lipsticks.

Outrageously Fun is a lipstick that's a part of MAC's Glamour Daze collection. I think it's my new go to pink lipstick. Trying to fight the urge to get another one.

CVS had buy one, get one free on Wet n' Wild again this month. I ended up getting two more Mega Last lipsticks. One I have been loving is 908C Sugar Plum Fairy. It's a dupe to MAC's Rebel and I've heard a lot of people saying that they like it more so than Rebel. I love how it wears. After eating, drinking and such it has a lip stain effect on the lips. It's a pretty plumy wine color. I can see myself wearing this a lot during the cooler months. Shoot even when the weather gets warmer.

Sheesh didn't know I have 7 lipsticks until I took the picture!!!  And then forgot to take a pic of the gloss. *head palm*

Face

Don't know if I've talked about it in a post #brainfart lol. But I have to shout out my Bare Minerals foundation. I have both the original and matte versions. I wear the matte more so than the original. I have tried Bare Minerals years ago when they only had the 4 or 5 shades. Now that have like 50-11 shades! Ok not that many but it's a lot. This is the first brand that I can wear more than one foundation shade! I have Golden Deep and Warm Deep. I don't have many foundations. The few I have I like and don't really want to be bothered trying others. Same goes with concealer. What I love about this foundation is that you don't look made up, the coverage is buildable but never gets cakey and I don't feel it on. Some foundations I've worn and as the day progresses I'm like ok I need to wash my face right now! Another plus is that the jar lasts a long time and you have to trip over it going bad. The new Ready foundation has been getting mixed reviews but I'm going try it for myself and judge.

MAC's Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Superb is a powder product that you can use however you like. Most people use these a highlighter on the face or blush. I included it in the "face" section but I've been using it as an eyeshadow for the last couple of weeks lol! I've been using over the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze with Covergirl's Brown Smolder eyeshadow in the crease. I wore this look for like three days straight. A good go to eye look that you don't really have to think about. I did wear it as a highlight as well a few times and it's very pretty. It's described as a soft peachy nude with shimmer.

Nails

I picked OPI's Pink of Hearts 2012 from Ulta. It's their polish set for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At first I was going to pick up the Essie polishes. I didn't think there were that many and then I couldn't decide which ones I wanted. So I saw this set and went with it. It comes with I Think in Pink and You Glitter Be Good To Me. The pink polish is a nice pink that I think will work on a variety of skin tones. I was worried at first because sometimes if it's a creamy milky kind of pink it doesn't look good on me. The glitter polish is pretty with fine pink and larger fuchsia colored glitters.

Maybelline released some limited edition Fall 2012 Fashion Week Color Show nail polishes. I was only going to get 2 or 3 but my simple self ended up getting all 6 *head palm*. Keeping with the pink theme for the month I used and fell in love with Pink Cosmo. It'a metallic light pink shade with some champagne action going. It's nice light pop on the nails that's good for everyday wear.

When I got the Revlon lipstick in Cherries in the Snow, I also got the nail polish in the same fuchsia red shade.

This and That

I've been on a candles kick for a while. Picked up two candles from Tuesday Morning. For some reason I thought this was a thrift store. Boy was I wrong!! I picked up two huge candle in Creamy Vanilla and Pumpkin Spice. These candles give off a nice scent without even burning them. I had the Pumpkin one sitting on my desk at work for while before I brought it home.  They smell so good. I want to go back and check out the other scents. They were only $10. A better value than they ones at Bath & Body Works. I still may mosey over then when the have another sale but even if I don't I happy with these candles.

Now I'm going to talk about a pencil sharpener. Yes a pencil sharpener  I've had a hate hate relationship with pencil liners like Urban Decay's 24/7 pencils because they are a bitch to sharpen. Sharpeners I've use before pretty much would eat the pencil up so I wouldn't sharpen them. I had decided to no longer buy pencils like this since I could never sharpen them. So I debated on get Urban Decay's sharpener which has good reviews. It's $10. I was going to get the Loco Ocho pencil set that has a sharpener included. Then I was like no to paying $10 for a sharpener and no to getting the set. So I took to Google and searched for dupes. Essence's sharper came up in quite a few hits. So I said next Ulta run I would check it out. I was over at CVS and was looking at the Essence of Beauty items. I saw a dual sharpener that looked similar to Urban Decay's and the Essence one. It was on $2 and some change. So if it didn't work, I wouldn't trip to hard at tossing it. I got home that evening to test it out and it works!!!! I sharpened like 3 pencils and was pleased. So if you're looking for a good sharpener check out the Essence of Beauty one at CVS if you don't have an Ulta close by to check out the Essence one.

I've kind of been obsessed with all things social networking and technology related lol! I still go pretty hard with Twitter. Instragram is everythang! If you're on Instragram follow me (thatcrazy8). I post random stuff but I also post items I picked, lip of the day products and so on. My Droid Razr Maxx is never too far from my reach lol. I picked up a new hard phone case from eBay that I've been loving as well. I want a tablet but don't know if I was to go the iPad route, Android tablet or check out Barnes & Noble's new HD tablet.

Food wise I've been on a salmon cakes kick. Last year I came up with a way too broil them in the oven. I got tired of frying them and wanted to without all that oil. They are quick and easy! They've been a go to for dinner and lunch during the work week.

And there you have it! I've been thinking about posts for next year and I think I'll do a top 3 kind of a thing. Maybe top 3 hits and misses. Sounds like a plan man!

Alrighty on to November and Thanksgiving!!! *chomp*

September 2012 Favorites

Aaaaahhhh Fall is upon us! Ok since the last couple of favorites posts have been looooong, I'm going to try to keep the rest of them short. Let's see how this goes...

Eyes

Maybelline released some limited edition Color Tattoos. There are 4 bright shades and 4 neutral toned shades. The block has been hot trying to find these jokers! I lucked up and found all 4 neutral toned shades at CVS. I've only been able to find 2 of the brighter ones. I'm still on the hunt but seriously doubt I will find them. Anywho I in LOVE with the neutral toned ones. Gold Shimmer is the one I reached for the most this month. This one *pauses* *gushes* I could wear it everyday and be happy. Bad to the Bronze was my favorite of the regular Color Tattoos. But Gold Shimmer gives me a little more. It's just awesome all over the lid when some liner and off you go. I did reach for Bad to the Bronze as well this month.

Urban Decay shadows are on the list again. This month I reached for the original Naked palette a bit. I mentioned this palette in the post I did about rebuilding my makeup collection. Hands down this would be one of the items I would repurchase. I love color on my eyes but I'm a neutral girl through and through. To me there is so much versatility in neutral eye looks. The Naked Palette has a nice mix of warm neutral tones along with a black and silver shadows. I've debated on getting the Naked 2 palette but I'm still undecided.

I picked up another drugstore mascara. I got L'Oreal's Voluminous Full Definition because of makeupbytiffanyd. She mentioned it in her July favorites (I think) and compared it to one of her favorite high end mascaras, Armani Eyes to Kill. So I said hey why not. At first I was like meh and wasn't really liking it. The more I used it and I guess air getting into the tube, I loved it! I like it better than Carbon Black which I think I mentioned as a favorite but now I would reconsider it as a favorite. The full definition one is just that. It full defines your lash and gives them extra volume. Well at least it does on my lashes.

Lips

I picked up two more colors in the Revlon Kissable Balm Stains. They are two of the deeper shades in Smitten and Crush.  I have been really enjoying them and I may pick up one more in Adore and maybe Romantic *head palm*. I had to force myself to put them away and use some of lippies. If I didn't have so many lip product this wouldn't be a "problem".

I reached for two of my favorite berry/purple toned lipsticks from Revlon in Berry Haute and Iced Amethyst.

Face

Since I have reorganized my Bare Minerals products I can see what I have better and play in them. I have fallen in love all over again with  Bare Minerals blushes. I grabbed like 4 or 5 blushes to play around with for the month and was reminded why these are some of my favorite blushes. They are similar to Bobbi Brown's blushes in that they go on nicely and the you can build the color on your cheeks. Two that I reached for a lot this month were Rosy Outlook and Avant Garden.

Two other blushes I reached for a lot were Milani's Baked Blushes in Fantastico Mauve and Red Vino. These blushes are very pigmented and you have to be careful to not pick too much product up on your brush. I get carried away sometimes with Red Vino :D

Nails

A while ago crytalsis007 talked about Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear polish in Pacific Blue on her blog and I believe she posted about it on Instagram. I have searched high and low for this polish! I was in Ulta walking around and something said go check the Sally Hansen polish section. And sure enough there it was! I couldn't wait to change my nail polish lol! It is a very vibrant and pretty blue color. I've gotten tons of compliments when I wore it.

My nails grow and are strong for the most part but I have issues with them peeling. So I posted a question on QVC's Beauty Banter board on suggestions for a good base coat. Duri Rejuvacote was one of the recommendations. I found a duo on eBay for inexpensive. They have larger quantities available but I didn't want to get a bunch if I didn't like it. You can use it alone or with nail color on your nails everyday until your nails are better. Then you can use it as needed. I've been using it as as a top and base coat. I tried to use it everyday but of course I didn't, but I still was pretty consistent with it. I'm just about done with one of the bottles. I've been really liking and my nails are much better.

During Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty they had a deal on Butter London polishes (buy one, get one free). Now *pauses* I had no intention on get anything! I only have one Butter London polish. Love the color but it chips like in a day. I was online looking at 2 colors I saw on Instagram but I was not going to pay shipping on 2 polishes. So moseyed on over to Ulta near my office. I didn't see the two polishes I was looking for but ended up picking up 2 glitter polishes. The Black Knight is the one I have be LOVING this month. It has a black base with various colors of glitter. Two coats and you have a full look with glitter. No other base color is need. So now my interest in Butter London has resurfaced *head palm*

This and That

I have been all over everything pumpkin spice from Starbucks! I love the latte. I picked up the new Ready Brew coffee in pumpkin spice. You add hot milk and it is delicious! Now I'm just waiting on the red cups lol!! \O/

I got a bracelet from Landau. There was a shop in the hotel where my work meeting took place in August. I moseyed in there and they had a table of bracelets that were $20. I like this bracelet because it's casual.  Just throw on and go.

I picked up CVS' Skin Purifying Astringent Deep Clean and there's a story behind it lol! A lady walked in before me and we walked over to the beauty section display. She was looking and looking for something. She picked up this big bottle and walked on. Me being nosy I was like was what she looking for lol!  I haven't used a toner in YEARS. This bottle is huge and I think it was $4. So I said what the hey. I've been using it twice a day and have been liking it. I use my Clarisonic in the evening to get my makeup of and I love it for that. One of the things I hated about wearing makeup is that I could never get it all over. I felt like I had to wash my face 3 times. This toner helps get any residual whatever from around the edges of my face. Oddly enough my face feels really soft after using it. So score for me being nosy ahahaa!

Ok not too bad this month. On to October!

August 2012 Favorites

Let's get to it!

Eyes

I had a work meeting the second week of August and usually I take waaaaay too much makeup. I said to myself that I was not going to bring too much this trip. I took one of my smaller Urban Decay palettes. I won the Feminine palette in one of crystalis007's giveways. This palette is great for travel. You have neutrals, a couple pops of color and a Zero (black) eyeliner.  It has one of my favorite eyeshadows from the Naked Palette Darkhorse. Stray Dog is quite nice too! Here's a link to on Temptalia's blog. It was on sale on Urban Decay's site but I don't see up anymore.

I took Urban Decay's eyeliner in Demolition (dark brown) with me during my work trip. I used it more so as a base when I used Darkhorse and Stray Dog from the Feminine Palette. It created a nice smokey dark brown look with both shadows.

Last month I mentioned a LORAC set that I purchased form HSN. In that set there was the Front of the Line Pro liquid eyeliner. Played around with it more this month and it's a really nice liner. The tip is fine and gives off the right amount of product. I have been able to do a cat eye easily with this liner which is usually hard for me.

Seems like this month has been a month of rediscovery which is always fun. This month I reached for several of my Bobbi Brown products. I used several of her eyeshadows that I have and it was love all over again lol! They are so smooth, have great pigmentation and are so easy to blend.

Lips

So once again crystalis007's blog has gotten me in trouble yet again. I picked up Chanel's Troublant gloss from their fall collection. It's the perfect your lips but better gloss that you can wear with anything. Trying to be good and not get a back up.

I'm still on a red kick and have been using Wet n' Wild's Spotlight Red but I stumbled upon a Revlon lip gloss in Fire which is Fiiiyyaahh! LOL! I've worn it with Spotlight Red and on it's own. It's a red red so if you're not comfortable wearing a red lip then it may be a bit much for ya. Me on the other hand I likes it!!

I don't have a lot of MAC products but the few I do have I like. This month I was using Riveting Rose lipstick and Indigo lipglass a lot. They were from the Jeanius collection that came out last year.  They are both described as a deep burgundy with a blue pearl.  Ok we'll go with that lol! The lipstick has a frost finish.

I finally picked up one of the L'Oreal Color Richie Caresse Stick  in Violet Chiffon. I like the texture, pigmentation and how these feel on it. Tempted to get more but have to check on the price. I got this one a CVS and it was kind of expensive. I used some bonus bucks I had so I think I got it for $5. If you haven't guess I like purple colors on my lips :)

Face

I finally ran out of my Bobbi Brown concealer. So I decided to check out one of the new concealer items from Bare Minerals. I picked up Bare Minerals Stroke of Light in Luminous 4. This is toted as an eye brighter/concealer.  It provides light to medium coverage for the under eye. Now if you have serious dark circles or under eye issues then I wouldn't recommend using this alone. I don't have serious issues so this works for me to cover and brighten my under eye area. It pairs nicely when I use my Bare Minerals foundation and it did work well with one of my Bobbi Brown foundations.

Another Bobbi Brown item I reached for this month are her blushes. *sigh**pause* Can I tell you how wonderful they are?  LOL! In the pan they don't look like much but once you apply them...gorg! Similar to her eyeshadows they are smooth, easy to blend and you can build the color. Being able to build the color is important for me when it comes to blush. As a brown skinned girl my fear is always that a blush will not show up on me or it'll appear chalky. Also if you fair skinned you don't have to fear too much color going on your cheeks. Two of my favs were Desert Rose which the perfect pink blush for any skin tone and Plum.

One of my makeup loving sorority sisters gave me a mineralized blush from MAC called Love Thing that didn't really work for her. I gave it a whirl this month and it's so pretty. It's described a deep raspberry with fleck of gold. That's a spot on description. I guess this would be better to wear in the fall. But yall know I don't care about makeup "rules". I think this is going to start a downward spiral for purchasing more MAC blushes...gah!

Nails

I randomly picked up Zoya's Faye from my nail polish stash when I needed to do a quick polish change. I forgot how much I like it and noticed that I have been neglecting the Zoya polishes that I have. Faye is described as bronzed mauve with purple and brown undertones with bright gold sparkle.

crystalis007 keeps getting me in trouble! LOL! She blogged about Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear The Real Teal nail polish. Here's a link to her post. I was in CVS (as usual) and picked it up. This was my go to polish this month. It's vibrant and a very pretty teal shade. It wore nicely on me as well. Since then I have picked up some other Xtreme Wear polishes *head palm*

During another random CVS run I pick up Revlon's Posh nail polish. I was thinking maybe it would be similar to Essie's Mojito Madness but it's more green. Oh well I really reeaallly like it so I'm happy with it.

When I'm not wandering around in CVS, I'm over at Walgreens lol! Both CVS and Walgreens are within walking distance of where I work. I picked up Nail Junkie from Sinful Colors. It's a pretty glitter polish with blue, green and silver glitter. I wore it as an accent nail with The Real Teal...gorg!

This & That (a bunch of stuff to talk about!)

I purchased two sets of Joy Magano's The Better Beauty Case from HSN. It was there today's special earlier in the month and I love them! It comes with a smaller and larger case.  I got them in leopard.  I use one of the smaller cases for my daily makeup and current play around with items. It has replaced the green basket that I had blogged about a while ago.  The other smaller case I used for my travel makeup and it was perfect. One of the larger ones I used for my Bare Minerals loose eyeshadows and blushes.  The other I have some nail polishes in. If these come back as a today's special I plan on picking up a couple of more sets and maybe some for Christmas gifts. Again they are awesome and hold a lot of stuff and you don't have to use them the strictly hold beauty items. During the presentation they should a variety of ways on how you can use the cases.

So I've been a quest to find a good daily moisturizer for my hair. On one of the threads I follow on QVC's Beauty Banter board, someone recommended checking out Shea Moisture. So I poked around online to check out their offerings and then made a run to Walgreens. I ended up picking up the Coconut & Hibiscus Hair Milk. It is light but moisturizes my hair nicely and I love the smell. On some days I pull my hair back and when I take it down it can be really dry. Not with this hair milk. When I take my hair down now, it's soft and moisturized. I've picked up some other Coconut & Hibiscus items from the line and hopefully I like those.

Played around with some new skincare items. I picked up Cetaphil's cleanser and moisturizer. I've really been liking the cleanser. It gets my makeup off with the Clarisonic in the evening and keeps my oil at bay after I use it the morning before applying my makeup. The moisturizer is light and not greasy.. It absorbs into the skin nicely. I also picked up Alpha Hydroxy Retinol ResQ from Ulta. This a dupe for philosophy's Help Me which I have used before and I did like it. I was about to purchase it again but found out about the ResQ which is a lot cheaper.

When I was at Sally's and I renewed my beauty club card I was able to get Silk Elements Megasilk Olive Oil Heat Protectant for free. I was like cool. If I don't like it then I could just pitch it since it was free. Well I like it! Usually I don't care for heat protectants because the tend to make my hair sticky. This one gives your hair a nice sheen and actually makes it soft. So score on this freebie!

I have been drinking Safeway's Refreshe Sparkling Water Beverages a lot lately. Since I've been trying to drink more water and less soda, this helps when I have the urge for a soda. It gives me the carbonation that I guess my body is looking for from a soda. They have a bunch of flavors. My favorite is strawberry watermelon. It's 0 calories and no sodium. You have to look because some do have sodium in them. In small amounts but still.

Don't know if I mentioned it before but I have a Keurig and I love it! One of my favorite coffees is Wolfgang Puck's Breakfast in Bed. It's so smooth and a nice medium taste. I don't do bold coffees. This is one is perfect for me.

Ben & Jerry's ice cream!!!!!! At the hotel where my work meeting was held, Ben & Jerry's ice cream was on the desert menu. Can I tell you that Coffee Buzz Buzz and Strawberry were everything! OMG! Vanilla was really good too but yea these two were delicious! I need to see if I can find them in my grocery store. Then again maybe I shouldn't look hahah!

Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy....yea well. I know these books have caused a lot of whoopla lately. I originally read all 3 books last month and felt like rereading them again. Yes there is sex in the book but to me there's more the story than just that. And please believe I have read worse books when it comes to describing sex or that talk about the BDSM  lifestyle. Anywho Christian Grey and all his 50 shades are quite alright with me LOL! I also got quite a few chuckles at Ana's inner goodness and subconscious :)

This month Elle Varner released her debut album Pefectly Imperfect. It has been a while since I have been excited about a release. I've heard her songs on the radio and I thought they were ok. She was on The Russ Parr Morning Show I think it was the day before the release date. They played a few songs and I was like oh I have to scoop this up. I loaded it on my iPod and have been jamming!! It's very rare for me to be able to listen to an album from beginning to end. I can with this one. The songs I have been loving are Sound Proof Room, I Don't Care, Not Tonight and Leaf. These four songs are right after each other and I have them on a loop. This release kind of reminds me of when Tweet came out with Southern Hummingbird  in 2000 and I still crank it like it came out yesterday. Tis a good feeling when you stumble upon GOOD music!

Phew! Alright good people that is it!

On to September. Fall is a comin and boot season!!!! Only 3 more favorites posts for 2012! Jeez where did the year go!?

July 2012 Favorites

Here are my July favorites! Played around with quite a bit this month. It was my birthday so hey lol!

Eyes

CVS is somewhat pricier when it comes to beauty items at the drugstore BUT I think they have the best  beauty deals.  They had a deal were all Physicians Formula products $7.99 and above were $7 off.  I've never tried any of their stuff since it is pricey for drugstore.  So of course I haaddddd to see what I could find lol!  I ended up getting two of their Bake Collection eyeshadow trios in Baked Sands and Oatmeal for under $2.  Both are nice neutral shades.  They can be worn wet or dry.  They are really nice and have good staying power.

I had tried Covergirl LashBlast Mascara a while ago and I thought it was just ok.  After hearing 2 of my favorite youtubers (emilynoel83 and makeupbytiffanyd) talking about it recently I decided to give it another whirl since I'm stlll on my drugstore mascara hunt.  Surprisingly enough I really like it.  It's a good everyday mascara that provides good length, curl and volume for my lashes.  Of the drugstore mascaras I've played around with I haven't decided which I would repurchase.  I have one more that I was to try out it again.  Let's see if I can make a decision next month.

LORAC debuted on HSN this month.  I picked up the Pro Star Eye Tutorial Kit.  I have fallen in love with the LORAC Pro mascara.  The wand is interesting.  It starts out small at tip and get wider up the wand.  So you can read get your lashes in the inner and outer corners and bottom lashes.  I also love that the formula isn't super wet and make your lashes feel like lashes.  Some mascaras are so thick and goopey to apply and make your lashes feel not so great. Also they can be hard to remove.  I had no problems removing this one.  I think it's relatively new.  I went to Sephora's site to check out reviews and when I looked there were none.

Urban Decay's Black Palette has been on my wish list for a while. It came to Ulta recently and it was on sale. On top of that I had a 20% off coupon, so I had to scoop it up. All the shades in the palette are black based. Great for a smokey look. I actually wore the blue shade from the palette on my birthday :)  For me the look wasn't too dark but then again I don't always stick with makeup "rules" and wear what I want lol. It comes with the Zero eyeliner which I feel I have a million of. I would draw a thick line close the the lash line and blend it out on my lid. Then I would take whatever shadow, place it on the lid and up into the crease. Viola! I may check out some tutorials on YouTube since right now all I've done is one color all over the lid which is ok with me. Still a little inspiration wouldn't hurt.

Bobbi Brown gel liners are some of my favorites. With the release of the new Twilight Desert collection a new shade was released. Twilight Night Shimmer Ink is a very pretty blackened plum shade with subtle shimmer. I've mainly worn it with a neutral eye. I saw a blog post where it was worn on its own and it looked just a pretty.

So I picked up another Lancome palette.  I picked up the Desert Sunset palette from HSN. I've had my eye on for a while and was like what the hey. It's has 6 shadows of beige, coral, pinks and brown. The Deep Brown shadow in this palette is everything! I've worn it all over the lid for a brown smokey eye, outer corner and in the crease. I love it! If I could purchase it on its own I would. The other shades in the palette are just as nice. They are easy to apply, easy to blend and I didn't experience any fallout.

Lips

The Revlon Kissable Balm Stains have been all the rage on YouTube and in the blogging world.  I only have one in Love sick.  It's a very pretty color and wears well on the lips. I may pick up one of the red shades.

So I wandered over to Walgreens looking for Wet n' Wild's Cherry Picking lipstick.  I didn't find it but I did stumble upon Spotlight Red and what a red it is!  I've kind of been on a red lip kick thanks to crystalis007's Red Lipstick Posts earlier this month.  When I wear it I don't top it with a gloss because once applied it has a sheen to it. Also I love how it wears during the day kind of like a stain.  I really don't need to reapply but of course I do.  I'm sure this a dupable red for a higher end lipstick.  I have two other Mega Last Lipsticks in neutral/lighter shades. Will definitely check out other shades.  You can't beat a good lipstick for $1.99.

My Makeup D'oh post not too long ago was about Revlon's Super Lustrous lipstick in Mink. I ended up purchasing two of these by accident *head palm*. Good thing I really like it lol. I have the extra one in my makeup bag that I keep in my handbag. I picked it up off a recommend from Destiny Godley. She did a YouTube video recently about nude lipsticks and glosses for women of color. Her recommendations are usually spot on. This works well for me as a nude lipstick. It doesn't make me looked washed about and I don't have to do a lot to "make it work". I do use a brown lip liner like I always do. I've been rocking this when I've worn a like using The Black Palette.

Face

So you all already know that I'm kind of obsessed with the tarte Amazonian Clay blushes.  I picked up another from Ulta when I had a 20% off coupon.  This time I got Blushing Bride.  It's described as a plumy rose.  For my skin tone it's a good everyday kind of blush.  I like the shimmer it and that it gives a nice glow to the cheeks.  I have my eye on one more and then I think I'm good. Hopefully lol!

Another item that I picked up during the Physicians Formula sale at CVS were the Happy Booster blushes.  I got Rose and Natural.  I'm alway leery when purchasing blush because I automatically think that it will not show up on my face or I have to pack it on to get some pigmentation.  In the pan the Rose blush is really pretty and applies just as pretty on. So Rose is my fav. The Natural, meh *shrugs* need to play with it bit more.

I've talked about Bobbi Brown's Bronzing Powder before but I had to mention it again. I looooove this bronzer.  Finding the right bronzer is hard. I thought I had found my holy grail bronzer in Covergirl Queen Collection bronzer in Ebony Bronze but not so much. What  I love about Bobbi Brown's one is that 1) it's matte and 2) it doesn't have a red or orange undertone. With the Covergirl one it has a red undertone. So by the end of the day I have a red streak from where I contoured my face and that was NOT cool! I've had my Bobbi Brown one for a while and I just started hitting pan on and I do use it everyday. If this product was discontinued I'd be crushed!

I've been reaching for the Sephora Classic Mineral Powder brush to apply my Bare Minerals foundation.  It's very soft and helps buff in the foundation without it appearing cakey on my face.  I really like wetting this brush to apply the foundation.  When I do hunty my face is beat ok!!  May try this with the Sigmax round kabuki one that I have to see if I get the same results.

Nails

I received Julep Yumi in my July Maven box. It's a pretty pink and silver glitter polish. I like how it's a full glitter. I didn't have to pack it on for the glitter to show on my nails.

So one of my nail polish loving sorority sisters emailed me a pic of Revlon's Gray Suede. She thought it would be a good neutral for her skin tone.  I liked it and was curious on how it would work for me. I found it Walgreens and tried it the next day. I paired iwth a purple shatter polish and I really liked it.  This one is good on it's own but also good to pair with shatter polishes or glitters were you want it to stand out and not fight against a color polish (if that makes sense lol).

Another release from Bobbi Brown's Twilight Desert collection were nail polishes. I dragged my heels on pick them up. I did get Turquoise and more than likely will pick up the other shade Twilight, I was leery in getting Turquoise because for some reason I thought it was a lot like Essie's Turquoise and Caicos. I'm happy to say it's not lol! To me the color is a little deeper and more vibrant.

This and That

I've tried various of the Glade Plugins and I like them but I've never been wowed by any of the scents.  I picked up Lavender ad Peach Blossom randomly when I was at Target.  I have one in my bathroom and two in my bedroom.  As I was sitting, I was like oh this is nice!  I usually like Lavender scents but sometimes they can be too strong to me.  I guess the peach helps balance it out.  Not sure if the scent is limited edition or not but I will definitely pick this one up again.

I picked up Korres Guava Body Butter and Shower Gel duo from HSN based off of glowing recommendation on QVC's beauty banner board (another fav over the last few months that I haven't mentioned).  For the longest time I have trying to find a body lotion and shower gel that I can wear on its own or pair with whatever fragrance and it now overpower it.  By George I think I've found it! The scent it very light.  It reminds me of something but I can't place it. The shower gel has an awesome lather but it's not drying. The body butter is so nice, smooth and not greasy at all. My skin was literally soft and hydrated all day. I had a coupon and they were offering free shipping when I got this set. I will definitely be stalking HSN to see if it goes on another deal because I will be stocking up on this product. There are a couple of other scents I want to try next.

Philosophy Unconditional Love is I think my second favorite fragrance from philosophy. It's a sweet scent that reminds me of cotton candy and I wear all year round. I have the spray fragrance but recently picked a set from QVC that was a Today's Special Value. Everything in the set is super-sized. I received the body emulsion, body mist and olive oil scrub.

So arm candy and stacking bracelets seems to be all the rage. Typically I just wear a watch and call it a day. I have a gold tone bracelet that I purchased from QVC a while ago that has gotten more wear this month. I also picked up some bangles from Armitha Singh via a Hautlook sale. I didn't notice until after I ordered them that they're call the Beyonce Bangle set teehee! I heart her.

Phew that's it! Again pardon the typos and stuff that just doesn't make any sense.

I might start including reconsidered favorites and/or products that I'm kind of blah about.  Or separate posts all together. We shall see.

On to August!
