Your Work Environment

I realize it more and more that your environment can have an impact on your well-being (for lack of a better word).  If you have a full time job you spend a good portion of your day at work.  Depending on your job you may have extra responsibilities that go beyond 5 o'clock or the typical 40 hour work week.  Yes everyone in an office have their on quirky personalities and such buuuutttt......o_O  When folk's nonchalant attitudes and the constant "I don't care", "I hate this place", etc is a constant everyday doggone day it starts to rub off on you.  There are several things you can do.  You have to have an honest "conversation" with yourself.  You can join your coworkers and take part in their b.s mindset.  You can say I'm not going to fall for this, do my work and keep it moving.  Or you can say to yourself, self this is NOT the place for you and take the steps you need to find a new gig.  Of course there are other things to consider especially if you love what you do (I'm not there lol!!)  Now don't get me wrong I know that no work environment is perfect BUT I'll be damn if you should have to put up with "whoa is me" people every doggone day. It's very draining believe me.  It also doesn't help when your so called "boss" adds to the mayhem.

Until next time....

February 2012 Favorites

Going to try and not list 50-11 thangs for this month lol!

Eyes

I've been loving Benefit's They're Real Mascara this month.  I think I mentioned last month that overall I have pretty decent eyelashes.  Also I can't get into the whole false eyelash thing.  This mascara is super black (super black? ha!) gives you length and volume.  I know some people get into the whole debate on "high end" mascaras since mascara is one beauty product that you should cycle out often.  If you like it and you're fine with your purchase then do you.  I have some drugstore mascaras that are favs as well.

Bare Escentuals Big & Bright Eye liner in Black Coffee has been my go to liner for the longest time.  I don't think this is available for individual purchase through BE's site which sucks!!  You might find it via a seller on Amazon or eBay.  I originally got this in one of their holiday sets and got a back up from another smaller set.  For me this is the perfect liner to go with any eye look.  Sometimes black can be too harsh and other times brown doesn't give you enough (if that makes sense).  I'm hoping that they make this one a permanent edition to their line. *shakes fist*

Bare Escentuals Drama Eyeshadow is just *sigh* lol!!  I can't remember how I stumbled upon this color but it's my go to when I don't know what to do.   Or if I can't be bothered doing a whole lot for an eye look.  Usually I wear it alone all over the lid and up into the crease, line my eyes with Black Coffee and call it a day.   It's a glimmer shadow but it's not loaded with glitter like some shadows.  I don't experience any fall out with it.  It's hard to describe but it's a cool brown bronzey color with a hint of pewter?? *scratches head*   I scooped it up from Ulta awhile ago when it was on sale for $6.  I got two.  Don't know why since it'll take forever to use just the one lol!!

I stumbled across the Smashbox Shadow Brush #32 when I was switching out my brushes.  I got in a set that came with other items.  It's no longer on Smashbox's website.  Amazon and eBay is the way to go if you're interested in it.  I haven't used this brush in a while.  I forgot how much I really liked it.  I usually don't do extreme eye looks.  So with this brush I can really do my whole eye look.  You can pack on and blend color with ease.

Lips

The Gloss D'Armani Lip in Rouge #405 is from the spring collection.  Crystalis007 reviewed this lip gloss on her blog and showed in a haul video on her youtube channel.  I was transfixed and haaaad to have it lol. I posted a comment to her blog when I received it (ordered it online) that the lip gloss whore in my swooned when I tried this gloss.  I think this is one of the second most expensive glosses I own.  I've never tried Armani lip glosses.  Love the color and the feel of this gloss on the lips.  It's long wearing which is strange to say for a lip gloss.  The color is a perfect everyday color.  It's a your lips but better color at least on me.  Lightweight tempted to get a back up.  I know terrible right?

MAC Marquise'd Lipstick is described a sheer pinky nude and it's just that.  This was a part of MAC's Wonder Woman collection.  A nice pink color when you do want to have a whole lot going on your lips.

Face

MAC Amazon Princess Blush was also a part of the Wonder Woman collection.  I not a big MAC fan but I lost my mind when it came to this collection lol!  I pulled out this blush and have been loving how it looks.  It has two pink shades.  One medium pink and a deeper pinky purple shade.

Real Techniques Powder Brush is a super duper soft powder brush.  One peeve I have with the Real Techniques brand is that I wish more of their brushes were available for individual purchase versus the sets.  This brush is available on its for $9.99.  Other than that I love to use this brush with my Bobbi Brown Sheer Powder.  I've also used it with Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil.

Nails

I've been into Taupe/Taupe Purple and dark blue polishes this month.  I've been loving Essie Mink Muffs, Sephora by OPI Metro Chic, Zoya Pasha and Butter London Big Smoke.

This and That

I think I first tried Cascadian Farm Organic Granola Bars in one of those snack boxes you can buy on flights.  I got a $1 off coupon from Target's website and was like what the hey.  I've the Chocolate Chip and Vanilla kind.  They're quite tasty.

Carol's Daughter Goddess Flower "delicate floral scent of orchids and jasmine" on Carol's Daughter's website.   I can't describe it other than  a wonderful scent.  I the set that includes the shea souffle,  body wash and dry oil spray.  I also have the rollerball.  I've worn this for a good part of the month.

A song that I have been jamming to pretty has is Another Round by Fat Joe featuring Chris Brown.  I've been playing this song back to back to back *shimmys*

See not too bad this month :)  See you in March!

Product Junkie Files: Drugstore.com

I've finally done it!  I am on a beauty no buy! *gasp*  For the last 3 years or so I've participated in Lent.  I racked my brain on what to give up and something to do daily.  A light bulb went off and was like a beauty no buy!  So hopefully I will make it to Easter.  Who knows I may stick with after Easter *fingers crossed.  Here's what I got:

I heard that the Wet n' Wild six pan palettes are being discontinued.  I wanted a back up of the Vanity palette.  Debated on getting another Lust palette (purple one).  I like it but not enough to get another one.  They are now difficult to find in stores so I took the Internet and viola drugstore.com!!  I also had been looking for the Berry Shimmer blush and couldn't find that anywhere either.  I hate paying for shipping on online orders so I picked up a Milani Baked blush in Red Vino, two Black Radiance Artisan Color Baked Blushes in Warm Berry and Toasted Almond.  I also got a lipstick from Black Radiance in Espresso.  Not to shabby :)  This will have to tie my over lol!

I hate people...

I find myself saying this quite often.  I know that hate is a strong word and that I shouldn't say it.  I don't really hate hate people.  Of course there are times when people do certain things and I'm really....reeeally!  Everyone has their moments when they want to be alone, don't want to be bothered or have "me time".  It seems like the older I  get the more I have this "feeling".  Sometimes I feel socially awkward.  I can be in a room full of people or around friends and feel alone, invisible or nonexistent.  I sometimes feel like I'm a bother to folks or in the way.  Most of the time I hate asking for help or depending on other people.  Or when I go to speak no one pays me any mind.  So why should I make the effort to deal with people?  But on the flip side I don't mind helping people (weird I know).  Some people are genuinely nice and appreciative of things.  I guess it's the assholes of life that out weigh the nice people and the good things.

Ok enough of my random musings.  Until next time.......

Just trying to figure out this thing called life.....

My random musings.....

Yes sometimes I vent, rant or whatever.  I hold things in waaaay too much and I have to get it out some kind of way.  Most of time I feel alone, stressed, stupid and that no one gives two shits about me.  Also in the past year or so a lot of people who were around my age have passed away.  I guess I've had a reality check lately that tomorrow truly isn't promised.  When you're young and dumb you think that you'll live "forever" and that you have time to do whatever it is "tomorrow"  So I'm working my way through putting myself in a place were I'm truly enjoying the one life that I have to live.  Yes I know that life comes with it's issues and what not, but there shouldn't be this constant feeling of a dark cloud hovering over me all the time.

Until next time party people...

I need to declutter!!!

(Courtesy of Microsoft)

Clutter is taking over my life and it has got to stop!!! (dramatic much?? lol).  But seriously I look around and I'm like how did this happen?? At home I kind of know.  We had an abrupt move.  Moving is bad enough when it's planned and worse when it isn't.  Yes we've been here for a while now but I feel like you never truly  are unpacked.  With work it's lack of time and a boss who doesn't know which way is up.    The bulk of it is filing is paper.  Filing is the bane of my existence (among other things).  I need for them to step into 2012 and not use so much paper!  At work I'm also dealing with limited space to put things away.  Hell I'm dealing with limited space at home too.  I have stacks and stack of publications in my office due to the fact that there is really no where to put them.

One thing I've noticed is that I get more mail.  Most of it junk (catalogs, credit card offers, etc).  I'm like when did that happen??  Before I rarely got mail now...hmph!  I try to go through it when I check the mail but yea that doesn't always happen.  I have a small basket that I would put mail in and go through it weekly to trash, file, shred, etc.  That was working but I fell off.  First I need to go through the basket.  It's kind of overflowing with old stuff *head palm*.  I say that I'm going to this and that on the weekends but then other things pop up and let's be honest some times it feels nice just to do nothing on the weekends.  Judge me if you want but I'm telling the truth.  Then I say I can take at least thirty minutes in the evening during the week to go through stuff.  After dealing with the crazy mofos at work and traffic, I just want to chill when I get home (and make sure I get my workouts in)

I feel like I'm on hoarders!!!  Ok for real it's not THAT deep hahaaa.  I can't bring myself to watch that show.  The commercials alone freak me out o_O.  So what do you all do to keep clutter to a minimum?

My Makeup Basket

I have a basket that I got from the Dollar Store where I put the current makeup items that I want to use.  I got the idea from emilynoel83.  She has a video on how to not get stuck in a makeup rut.  Also I don't have a vanity.  I do my makeup in the bathroom.  So the basket is also helpful because I can grab it in the morning and not have to search for multiple items.  I have some containers on my dresser right outside my bathroom with current brushes and other quick grab go to items.  Typically I'll go through the basket on Saturday/Sunday and see what's what.  Some items do stay in the basket like my concealer and maybe a highlight or blending eyeshadow.  I try to keep items that stay in there to a minimum.  Then I go through my collection and determine what items I want to play with next for the eye, lips and face.    So here is what's in my basket:

  • Eyes:  NYX Mysterious Brown Eye palette, NYX Velvet Rope Palette, NYX Haute Model palette, Bobbi Brown Gel Liners (black ink and brown ink), NYX single shadows in Sahara and Nude, Wet n' Wild single shadow in Brulee, Tarte Gifted mascara
  • Lips:   MAC Lipglass in Evolution Revolution, Milani Lip Mixers in Lip Stir, Lip Blend, Lip Mingle and Lip Party, Milani Glitzy Glamour gloss in First Class and Bare Minerals 100% Natural Lip gloss in Glazed Donut
  • Face:   MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Comfort, Tarte blush in Exposed, Bare Minerals blushes in Hot Shot, So Fab and Pink Tourmaline, Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer

Last year I would try to do this weekly.  Then I felt like I wasn't really using the products.  I debated on this being the items that I use for the month but I'll see a blog post or youtube video and I'll be moved to grab other items.   I would like to stick to at least two weeks.  We shall see how I do for 2012.

Here's a pic of my basket.  Nothing fancy :)
